PARK HILLS, Mo. – With spring almost here, Mineral Area College is gearing up for the upcoming semester of summer classes. The summer semester begins June 4. Open registration is happening now.

MAC Registrar Pam Reeder said summer classes are popular because of the convenience, expediency, and affordability the four-, six-, and eight-week sessions offer students, especially those returning to their hometowns for the summer.

“Students who attend MAC classes between semesters from four-year universities are often looking for an accelerated class at a reduced price and there’s a better chance of smaller class sizes and one-on-one attention in the summer,” she said. “In addition, summer classes are a great way for MAC students to stay on track to complete an associate degree in two years.”

The eight-week summer semester begins June 4 and ends July 30. Four- and six-week classes are also offered in the summer and begin at various times during the semester. Many classes are offered evenings, online, or through interactive television in a MAC classroom. The summer schedule of classes is available at

To schedule an advising appointment, students may call (573) 431-4593 between 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays. First-time MAC students should apply online and can call the Admissions Office at (573) 518-2228 with questions.

Former MAC students are eligible to enroll during early registration once they update their application. Transfer students may also enroll during this time once they have been admitted. Students will receive registration information after their application has been processed. Questions regarding registration should be directed to the Registrar’s Office at (573) 518-2119.

In addition to the main campus in Park Hills, classes are offered at four outreach centers. Student interested may contact an outreach center coordinator: Farmington, Andrea Richardson at (573) 701-1310 ext. 2139; Fredericktown, Marcy Rehkop at (573) 783-7932; Perryville Higher Education Center, Mary Bauwens at (573) 547-4143 and Potosi, Judy East at (573) 438-3479 before 3 p.m. or (573) 438-2156 ext. 26 after 5 p.m.

Students planning to enroll in English or math courses who have not submitted ACT scores will need to take an assessment for placement in the appropriate level of courses. For a list of on- and off-campus testing dates, visit our website at or call (573) 518-2202 or 518-2188.

Arrangements for financial aid and payment of tuition and fees should be made at the time of registration. Call the Financial Aid Office at (573) 518-2133 for assistance.

Summer textbooks can be priced and reserved online at beginning on or about May 1. Summer textbook sales, including online order pickup, will begin May 29 at the campus bookstore in Park Hills.
