(10/16/18)  Midnight Madness is this Wednesday The Mineral Area Volleyball team will play at home this Wednesday, 10/17. They have a critical Region 16 match up against MSU-West Plains. The winner will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Regional Tournament. The Volleyball team kicks off Midnight Madness with game time at 6:30pm. Please come out and support your Lady Cardinals.

 

(10/16/18)  Women continue scrimmage schedule.  The Women’s Basketball team had their first pre-season scrimmage this Saturday, 10/13. The Lady Cards have invited Northeast MS, John A. Logan, and Southwest TN, to participate. The games started at 10am with a half-court game for 50 minutes, alternating between offense and defense every 5 minutes. Then each team played full-court scrimmages with four 10-minute running clock quarters. The Lady Cards had a great showing and played very hard against the 3 other teams. Since it was just a scrimmage no scores were recorded.

The Women’s Basketball pre-season will continue this Saturday, October 20, in Lawrence, KS. The Lady Cards were invited to participate in the Dave Neely Event at the Sports Pavilion in Lawrence. MAC is one of thirty-six teams participating in the event.

(10/9/18)  Women's scrimmage schedule begins this weekend. The Women’s Basketball pre-season will begin this Saturday, October 13, at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse. The Lady Cards have invited Northeast MS, John A. Logan, and Southwest TN, to participate. The games will start at 10am. Click the link for the scrimmage schedule:

(5/11/18)  Ella Gobald signs with Quincy.  Ella Gobald, a sophomore from Perth, Australia has signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Quincy University next year. Quincy is a NCAA Division II school that plays in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Ella averaged nearly ten points a game for the Lady Cardinals.

(4/12/18)  Freshman Holly Forbes named All-American. Freshman MAC women's basketball player Holly Forbes was recently named to the NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American Team.  Congratulations to Holly on this tremendous honor! 

(4/12/18)  MAC signs Keanna Williams.  The women's basketball team has announced the signing of Keanna Williams, a 6'0" point guard from Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa.  Williams helped lead Centennial to a state championship scoring 13 points in the title game. 

 

(4/6/18)  Lady Cardinals announce the signing of Caitlyn Holmes. Caitlyn Holmes, from Central High School in Park Hills, MO has signed to play basketball for MAC next year.  She scored over 1,200 points and had more than 700 rebounds in three varsity seasons for the Rebels.

(2/28/18)  Season ends in Region 16 Tournament.  MAC fell to State Fair last night by the score of 64-61 in the first round of the Region 16 Tournament.  This ends the season for the Lady Cardinals at 15-12.  

(2/26/18)  Lady Cardinals to play home game against State Fair in Region 16 Tournament.  The Mineral Area College women's basketball team will host State Fair CC in a region tournament play in game on Tuesday, February 27th at 6:00pm.  The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the Region XVI Tournament, which will run from Thursday, March 1st - Saturday, March 3rd at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO.  

(2/14/18)  Holly Forbes named Region 16 Player of the Week.  Congratulations to MAC women's basketball player Holly Forbes.  The freshman forward for the Lady Cardinals was named Region XVI Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 5-11! This is the third time this year that Holly has received Player of the Week recognition. 

(2/13/18)  Mineral Area defeats #24 Vincennes on Sophomore Night. 

MAC played their last home game of the season last night honoring their sophomores before the game.  They defeated 24th ranked Vincennes in overtime by the score of 80-75.  With the win the Lady Cardinals improve to 15-8 overall. They will play on the road, in Poplar Bluff on Saturday against Three Rivers.

(2/9/18)  Game with Crowder postponed  Due to the weather forecast for this weekend, tomorrow's women's basketball game at Crowder College has been postponed until Monday, February 19th at 2:00pm.  The MAC women's basketball team was originally scheduled to play Rend Lake College on Monday, February 19th.  That game has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.  


(2/5/18)  Lady Cardinals fall to unbeaten Moberly.  The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team played host to #6 Moberly Area CC on Saturday, February 3rd as part of MAC’s 2018 Homecoming.  The Greyhounds were able to defeat the Lady Cardinals by a score of 81-63.   MAC is now 13-8 overall, 3-3 in Region XVI play, and 2-5 in MCCAC play.

They will hit the road for a pair of region games this week.  On Wednesday, February 7th, MAC will travel to Hillsboro, MO to take on region/conference opponent Jefferson College at 6:00pm.  On Saturday, February 10th, the Lady Cardinals will travel to Neosho, MO to take on Crowder College in a Region XVI matchup.  Saturday’s game is scheduled to tip at 2:00pm.

(2/1/18)  Homecoming at MAC is this Saturday. MAC’s 2018 Homecoming will take place on Saturday, February 3rd at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse.  Homecoming festivities will kick off at 2:00pm with an alumni basketball game.   We will also be honoring cheer and basketball alumni during halftime of the two MAC games and doing a 50/50 fundraiser for former MAC basketball player “Shakey” Shawn Harrington.  You can click below to view all of the day's activities.

(1/29/18) Lady Cardinals defeat State Fair to improve to 13-7 overall.   MAC also hosted conference/region opponent State Fair CC on Saturday, January 27th.  The Lady Cardinals came away with a big win against State Fair, defeating the Roadrunners 81-73.  MAC is now 13-7 overall, 3-2 in Region XVI play, and 2-4 in MCCAC play.

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team will host conference/region opponent Moberly Area CC on Saturday, February 3rd for MAC’s 2018 Homecoming.  Saturday’s women’s game will tip at 5:00pm.

(1/22/18) MAC is now 12-6 on the season.  MAC traveled to Moberly, MO on Saturday, January 20th to take region/conference opponent Moberly Area CC.  The Lady Cardinals fell to the Lady Greyhounds by a score of 80-47.  MAC is now 12-6 overall, 2-2 in Region XVI play, and 1-2 in MCCAC play.  Moberly was 20-0 on the season and is currently ranked #7 in the nation. 

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team will travel to St. Louis, MO to take on St. Louis CC in a conference matchup on Wednesday, January 24th at 5:30pm.  The Lady Cardinals will return home on Saturday, January 28th for a conference/regional matchup against State Fair CC.  Tip for Saturday’s matchup is set for 5:00pm.

(1/18/18)  Mineral Area defeats Jefferson College in home contest.  MAC won a MCCAC and Region 16 contest last night over Jefferson College by the score of 75-57.  The Lady Cardinals are now 12-5 overall.  They will play on the road against Moberly on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

(1/16/18)  Lady Cards now 11-5.  The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team hit the road and traveled to Little Rock, AR to take on Arkansas Baptist College on Wednesday, January 10th.  The Lady Cardinals fell to Arkansas Baptist by a score of 86-68.  MAC then returned home and defeated Region XVI opponent Crowder College on Saturday, January 13th by a score of 74-70.  The team’s originally scheduled home game on Monday, January 15th against Rend Lake College was canceled due to weather and will not be rescheduled.   The Lady Cardinals are now 11-5 overall, 1-1 in Region XVI play, and 0-1 in MCCAC play.

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team will host conference and regional opponent Jefferson College on Wednesday, January 17th at 5:00pm.  MAC will also hit the road on Saturday, January 20th, when they travel to Moberly, MO to take on Moberly Area CC.  Game time for Saturday’s conference and regional matchup is set for 5:00pm.

 

(1/8/17)  MAC falls to Three Rivers in home contest.  The Lady Cards lost to Three Rivers on Saturday night by the score of 76-57. With the loss, Mineral Area is now 10-4 on the season.  They will play against Arkansas Baptist JV on Wednesday in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(1/2/17)  Cardinals take on Northwest Mississippi tonight in Natalie Bess Holiday Classic.  MAC defeated Malcolm X yesterday during the first night of the Classic by the score of 83-38.  With the win, The Lady Cardinals are now 9-3. Tonight, MAC will play against Northwest Mississippi. Earlier in the season Mineral Area defeated them by the score of 71-69.

(12/11/17)  Lady Cards now 8-2 after defeating Arkansas Baptist JV. The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team began a busy week on Monday, December 4th, when they traveled to Vincennes, IN to take on Vincennes University.  The Lady Cardinals fell to the Trailblazers by a score of 98-62.  MAC also traveled to Harrisburg, IL to take on Southeastern Illinois College on Wednesday, December 6th.  The Lady Cardinals won big, defeating the Lady Falcons by a score of 78-45.  The MAC women’s basketball team wrapped up their week by taking on Arkansas Baptist College in the St. Francois County Rotary Shootout on Saturday, December 9th.  The Lady Cardinals defeated Arkansas Baptist by a score of 77-66.   With three games played last week, MAC moves to 8-2 on the season.

(11/20/17)  MAC goes 1-1 in Northwest Mississippi Classic. 

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Senatobia, MS to participate in a classic hosted by Northwest Mississippi CC on Thursday, November 16th and Friday, November 17th.  On Thursday, the Lady Cardinals were able to defeat Northwest Mississippi CC by a score of 71-69.  On Friday, MAC fell to Northeast Mississippi CC by a score of 78-68.   The Lady Cardinals now have a record of 6-1 to start the season.

(11/13/17)  MAC wins again, now 5-0. The Lady Cardinals won two home games over the weekend to run their win streak to five.  They defeated John Wood Community College (64-53) and John A. Logan (80-67) on Friday and Saturday.  Mineral Area now travels to Senatobia, Mississippi to play Northwest Mississippi and Northeast Mississippi in the Northwest Mississippi Classic.  The games will be Thursday at Noon and Friday at 10:00 a.m.

(11/7/17)  Mineral Area now 3-0 to start season. MAC traveled to Poplar Bluff, MO to participate in the Three Rivers Classic on Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th.  On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals were able to defeat Southeastern Illinois College again by a score of 80-60.  On Sunday, MAC defeated Olney Central College 88-66.  The Lady Cardinals start the 2017-2018 season 3-0. 

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team will host John Wood CC at 5:00pm on Friday, November 10th.  Tip off for Friday’s game is set for 5:00pm.  The Lady Cardinals will also host John A. Logan College on Saturday, November 11th at 2:00pm.

The women's basketball team defeated Southeastern Illinois last night at home by the score of 69-63. Mineral Area was lead by Freshman Holly Forbes who scored 22 points.  The Lady Cardinals play in the TRCC Classic down in Poplar Bluff over the weekend.  They will take on  Olney on Saturday and have a rematch with SE Illinois on Sunday

(10/30/17)  Lady Cards play first game on Wednesday.  The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Lawrence, KS to participate in a Jamboree on Saturday, October 28th.  Saturday’s jamboree was the team’s final preseason scrimmage.

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team will open up their 2017-2018 season on Wednesday, November 1st at home against Southeast Illinois College.  The Lady Cardinals will also head to Poplar Bluff, MO to participate in a tournament hosted by Three Rivers CC on Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th.  On Saturday, MAC will take on Olney Central College at 1:00pm.  The Lady Cardinals will wrap up their weekend when they take on Southeast Illinois College at 1:00pm on Sunday. 

 

(10/23/17)  Lady Cards open up on November 1st.  The women's basketball team will begin their regular season on Wednesday, November 1st, at home against Southeastern Illinois at 5:00.  The Lady Cards are in the middle of their preseason schedule right now. They will travel to Lawrence, KS to participate in the Dave Neely Jamboree on Saturday, October 28th.  They are coming off their 2nd Region 16 title in the last three seasons.

(10/16/17)  Midnight Madness is this Wednesday.  Tailgating with free hotdogs, chips and drinks, meeting the Mineral Area College athletes and a chance to win free tuition for spring semester will be part of the evening’s fun during Mineral Area College’s annual Midnight Madness, which takes place beginning at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Robert E. Sechrest Sr. Field House. The evening is sponsored by MAC Athletics and MAC Student Activities. Mike Overman, the community college’s athletic director, said Midnight Madness “stirs up the passion for MAC sports.”

“Midnight Madness is a great fall event on the MAC Campus,” he said. “We’ll be kicking off the sports year with an outstanding volleyball match against rival MSU-West Plains and an introduction to our men’s and women’s basketball teams.”

The evening is open to everyone. Tailgating, with grilled hotdogs, will be served in front of the Sechrest Field House at 5 p.m. The volleyball game against MSU West Plains begins at 6:30 p.m. After the game, the crowd will be introduced to the men’s and women’s basketball players, the cheerleaders and Kirby.

Other activities set for the night include a glimpse of the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and three-point and slam dunk competitions that include a shot for someone to win free tuition for the upcoming spring semester. Over the course of the evening, MAC faculty and staff will also be collecting toiletries for the MAC food pantry at the front entrance of the Field House. All donated items will help MAC students that are in need.

“It’s one of the most exciting and fun-filled events this college offers,” Overman said. “The high energy level in the field house adds to the games and activities of the night. It’s gratifying to see the team members and crowd get all fired up about the upcoming basketball season, especially the little kids who will become our next generation of Cards fans."

 

(10/9/17)  Cardinals preseason is underway. The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Cedar Falls, IA to participate in the Graphic Edge Juco Jam on Sunday, October 8th.  The Lady Cardinals went 2-1 on Sunday, winning their first two games before falling in their third.  The Lady Cardinals will have two more preseason scrimmages before opening up their season on Wednesday, November 1st at home against Southeastern Illinois.
