(10/26/20) Men finish first at St. Louis Fall Classic.
Cold, brisk temperatures didn't stop the Mineral Area College XC teams from another excellent effort this past weekend as the Men's team brought home first place honors at the St. Louis Fall Classic XC meet held Saturday morning, October 24th at Francis Park. The Cards put 3 runners in the top 5 overall and had all 7 runners score in the top 20 for the 8 kilometer race in winning the 7 team meet by 17 points over the second place team Hannibal LaGrange. Donovan Denslow-2nd, Wyatt Elliott-3rd, and Kyle Vinyard-5th had the top performances for the Men's squad. The two lady Cardinal runners also had good races on Saturday, with Hailey Debert placing 25th and Nani Brewington finishing 31st in the 5 kilometer race. The Running Cards will have competition again this Friday, October 30th as they host the Region 16 XC Championships on the MAC campus. The women's race time is 4:30 p.m., with the men to follow at 5:15 p.m.
(10/12/20) Cross Country finishes 1st at Border Wars.
The Mineral Area College Cross Country teams competed at the Border Wars XC Championships on Friday, October 9th at Principia College. Despite the above normal hot weather conditions, the MAC men put together a great team effort to win the meet which had 6 schools competing. Sophomore Donovan Denslow's 2nd place finish lead the Cards, who placed 5 runners in the top 10 in the 8 kilometer race. Following Denslow were freshman Kyle Vinyard-4th; sophomore Wyatt Elliott-5th; freshman Brayden Mullins-7th;and freshman Caleb Wicklund-10th. The Lady Cards got a 23rd place finish from sophomore Nani Brewington, while sophomore Hailey Debert placed 29th in the women's 5 kilometer event. (9/29/20) Donovan Denslow named Athlete of the Week.

Donovan Denslow fared well at the Tiger Cross Country Invitational this past weekend.
The sophomore from Clarksville, Missouri, finished eighth out of 131 runners in a race that featured athletes from both the NCAA Division III level as well as the JUCO level, including the former National Athlete of the Week from NJCAA DIII. He crossed the finish line in 16:11.80, just 0.20 seconds out of seventh place.
This is the first time that an athlete from Mineral Area (Mo.) has been named National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season.

(9/28/20) Tiger Invitational results.
The Mineral Area College Cross Country teams participated in the Tiger Invitational XC meet in Bourbonnais, Illinois on Friday, September 25th. The Men's team finished in fourth place out of 13 schools, behind 3 four year colleges and first among all junior college teams, including a 142 point victory over NJCAA Division III #2 Nationally ranked Joliet Community College. The meet, which was sponsored by Olivet Nazarene University and ran on the Aspen Ridge Golf Course, proved to be MAC's biggest meet of the season to date, with 131 runners in the men's division and 110 in the women's race. Leading the way for the Cardinals was an 8th place finish from Sophomore Donovan Denslow for the men, completing the 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) course in a time of 16:11 which was the fastest time among all junior college runners participating. Finishing the scoring for the Cardinals were: Wyatt Elliott-17th; Kyle Vinyard-22nd; Brayden Mullins-33rd; and Cody Moore-51st. Complete MAC results were:
(9/14/20) MAC takes 1st place at Hillsboro Invitational. The Cardinals took part in the Hillsboro Invitational in Hillsboro, Illinois over the weekend. The Cardinals won the meet with a total of 43 points. Team and overall meet results are listed below.

(9/9/20) Cross Country has their first meet.
The Mineral Area College Cross Country teams played host to St. Charles Community College on Friday, September 4th as both schools kicked off their fall cross country seasons. The MAC course had race competition for the first time in almost 15 years, the last time being the North County Invitational in either 2005 or 2006. No official team scores were kept, but highlighting the day for MAC was Donovan Denslow leading a 1 through 5 finish for the men’s team as he won the 3.1 mile race in a time of 16:54. Hailey Debert also took the individual win in the Women’s 2-mile race, completing the distance in a time of 14:29. Complete race results follow:

(11/14/19) Steve Davis named National Coach of the Year. Coach Davis was named National Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association:
"As the coach of a new program, Steve Davis could leave his mark any way he pleased. Davis chose to do it with an exclamation point as he led Mineral Area College to the national title this past weekend at the NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The Cardinals had three runners finish in the top-8 and two more in the top-25 as they scored 54 points. MAC also won the team title at the Region XVI Championships eight days before winning the national crown."
National Coach of the Year
(11/4/19) MAC Cross Country wins the national title. In their first-ever attempt, MAC won the NJCAA Division III National Championship this weekend in Westfield, Massachusetts. In their second season of competing at the NJCAA level, MAC was able to end the 8-year reign of Harper College (IL).
Hall of Fame Head Coach Steve Davis, who lead Potosi High School to seven state titles has quickly turned the Cardinals into a national champion.

The Mineral Area College Cross Country Teams were represented at the NJCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships this past Saturday, November 2nd by ten MAC student-athletes. The competition took place at Stanley Park in Westfield,
Massachusetts, and had over 40 junior college schools throughout the United States participating. The MAC Men’s team had their best races of the season and came away with a National Championship for their effort. Three of the “Running Cardinals” won All American honors for their races, with freshman Donovan Denslow-3rd, freshman Wyatt Elliott-4th, and freshman Jacob Arnold-9th, all placing in the top 15 overall in a race that had 200 runners. For the MAC women, Hailey Cortez and Nani Brewington both finished their freshman cross country campaigns running their fastest races of the season; with Cortez narrowly missing an All American spot placing 18th. (10/30/19) MAC men and women win the Region 16 Title. The Cardinals defeated St. Charles over the weekend to claim the 1st ever Region 16 Title for the Running Cardinals.
The Mineral Area College Women's and Men's Cross Country Teams both won the first-ever NJCAA Division III Region XVI Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 25th, held at St. Charles Community College. Way to go Cardinals!!!!
Leading the Lady Cardinals to victory was freshman Hailey Cortez who placed 3rd overall in the 5-kilometer race to win All-Region honors. For the men, freshman Wyatt Elliott placed 2nd and freshman Jacob Arnold finished 3rd in the slightly long 8-kilometer course, leading the Men’s team to their first-place finish with their All-Region performances. (10/15/19) MAC competes in Illinois College Invitational.
The MAC Cross Country teams competed at Illinois College Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday, October 12th. The meet was held at the Nichols Park Golf Course in Jacksonville, Illinois and the weather produced chilly temperatures for the first time at a race this season for the “Running Cardinals”. The MAC Men’s team had an outstanding day as they placed 2nd overall out of 11 schools, finishing behind NCAA Division II School Truman State University. With a total of 68 runners competing, the Cardinals placed 6 runners in the top 25, lead by freshmen Wyatt Elliott (5th) and Jacob Arnold (6th). For the MAC Women, Nani Brewington finished in 27th place out of 57 total runners. Complete MAC results were:

The MAC Cross Country teams competed at Columbia College Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday, October 5th. The meet was held at the Gans Creek Recreational Area in Columbia, Missouri and was hosted by Columbia College. The MAC Men’s team placed 7th out of 12 schools, with only 10 schools fielding full teams. Top finisher for the Men’s squad was Wyatt Elliott in 21st place out of 105 runners. Nani Brewington was the only MAC Women’s team runner at the meet, finishing in 68th place in a field of 81 runners. Complete MAC results were:

(10/2/19) MAC ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA national poll. The Mineral Area Cross Country team has quickly climbed the polls this season and is currently the #1 ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division III national poll. This was due in part to a strong performance at the H.W. Wright Invitational where MAC placed four of its runners in the top five of the race.

(10/1/19) MAC competes in H.W. Wright Classic Invitational. The MAC Cross Country teams competed at the H.W. Wright Classic Invitational Cross Country meet on Friday, September 27th. The meet was held at the Old Scoville Golf Course in Decatur, Illinois and was hosted by Millikin University. The MAC Men’s team placed third of the 9 teams that scored, finishing behind NCAA Division II School Millikin University and NCAA Division III School Rose-Hulman. Top finisher for the Men’s squad was Jacob Arnold in 14th place out of 91 runners. Nani Brewington was the only MAC Women’s team runner at the meet, finishing in 42nd place in a field of 75.
