Tim Copeland

Head Coach

Tim Copeland is entering the fourteenth season as the Head Coach for the Cardinals. In his 13 years here, he has an impressive overall coaching record of 398 - 149. Last season, the Cardinals went 29-5, won the MCCAC Conference Championship, The District K Title, and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament. Two seasons ago they had an overall record of 36-2, won their second consecutive Region 16 Championship (3rd overall), won the District K Title (3rd overall), won an MCCAC Conference Championship (3rd overall), as well as advancing to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the second consecutive season. During the NJCAA Tournament, MAC defeated #11 Laramie County (Wyoming) and #2 Iowa Western to claim a 6th place finish in the country.    They had three players named All-American honors that played on that team.  In 2016, the Cardinals went 27-9. The Cardinals won their second Region XVI title, second District K title, and earned their second trip to NJCAA Division I National Tournament finishing 10th in the nation again.

In 2011, the Lady Cardinals finished 10th in the nation & had an overall record of 35-7.  During this season, MAC won the MCCAC Conference Championship, a Region 16 Tournament title, as well as the District K Championship.  At the NJCAA National Tournament, MAC defeated Wallace State-Hanceville and powerhouse Miami-Dade to claim a 10th place finish. 

Tim's coaching career started in 1990 when he became a Student Assistant Coach at Jefferson College. The following year, he was appointed to the position of Assistant Volleyball Coach. He also took over the coaching responsibilities for the Jefferson Juniors, a USVBA club team.

Tim was at Jefferson College until 1994.  He then took the position of Head Volleyball Coach at Missouri Baptist University where he coached for 4 years and compiled a 113-42 record.  In 1999, Copeland returned to Jefferson College as an assistant up until being named Head Volleyball Coach at MAC in 2005.

Sami Meyer

Former Mineral Area defensive player Sami Meyer will begin her fourth season with the Mineral Area coaching staff. 

Sami has been instrumental in the program's success in the last few years.  Last season, Sami helped lead MAC to their third consecutive trip to the NJCAA National Tournament, a Region 16 title, as well as an MCCAC regular-season title.  The Lady Cardinals went 29-5 overall.  Two seasons ago, she helped lead MAC to a 34-0 during the regular season.  They had an overall record of 36-2, won their second consecutive Region 16 Championship (3rd overall), won the District K Title (3rd overall), won an MCCAC Conference Championship (3rd overall), as well as advancing to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the second consecutive season. During the NJCAA Tournament, MAC defeated #11 Laramie County (Wyoming) and #2 Iowa Western to claim a 6th place finish in the country.

Sami graduated from St. Pius X High School in 2013 where she helped lead her team to three appearances in the state-championship game, winning the title in 2011. It was the first time a state title had been won in school history.  Her junior and senior year she was voted All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, All-State 1st-Team, and All-State Academic. 

Meyer signed with Mineral Area College as a defensive specialist for them for the 2013-2015 seasons.  The Cardinals had two great seasons and earned a conference championship in 2013.  She was on the Dean’s list both academic years and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.

After Mineral Area, Sami signed to play volleyball at Columbia College in Columbia, MO where she received a full scholarship  At her time in Columbia, Meyer helped her team win a National Championship in 2015, was awarded as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2016 and an AMC Conference Academic All-Conference recipient.  She graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Magna Cum Laude academic honors.

Sami has a Master's in Business Administration and works full time for Mineral Area in our Admissions Department.
