Dr. Young Honored with MACTE President's Award

Mineral Area College is thrilled to congratulate MAC Education Department Coordinator and Professor Dr. Shawn Young, who received the 2025 Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE) President's Award!

This prestigious award recognizes Dr. Young's exceptional service and leadership in teacher education, celebrating his lasting contributions to the field through innovative thinking, dedicated service, and a commitment to excellence.

MACTE noted Young’s outstanding leadership in creating innovative pathways into the teaching profession, particularly in rural communities. His work has been instrumental in developing programs that actively recruit candidates into education, addressing teacher shortages while maintaining high standards for preparation. He’s been instrumental in securing grant funding to establish apprenticeship programs for high school students and a substitute teacher training program, providing hands-on experience and addressing immediate workforce needs.

By establishing collaborative programs, Dr. Young has created seamless pathways from secondary to postsecondary education and into teaching careers. His work has demonstrated a commitment to removing barriers for aspiring educators and strengthening the future of education in Missouri.
