Industry and Technology Programs at Mineral Area College

The Industry and Technology Center is a new training facility to help Mineral Area College meet the demands of area employers and provide students with opportunities to receive specialized technical skills training to secure well-paying jobs close to home. 

It is the primary building of the new MAC Tech complex, which, along with the William Dickerson Welding Technology Center and HVAC Technologies Center, gives Mineral Area College more than 100,000 square feet of new facilities to prepare post-high school students for their transition into the workforce.

Are these programs eligible for Financial Aid and A+ coverage?

Yes. Submitting a Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) is a part of the application processYour total coverage will be determined by the information that you provide. Additional information is located here: https://mineralarea.edu/future-students/financial-aid/

A+ will also cover the tuition cost of all full-time (12 plus credit hour) MAC Tech programs. However, Federal Aid is applied before Missouri A+ benefits.

A+ does not cover additional course fees, web fees, books, etc.

The Fiber Optic Fundamentals Certificate course is the only program not covered by Financial Aid at this time.


Are there any prerequisites?

No. There aren't any prerequisites. However, ACT and/or Accuplacer test scores are required for certificates or degrees that require general studies courses (English, Math, Science, etc.)

Can I take a single Welding, HVAC/R, Construction, or Auto Tech class?

No. These specific programs are annual cohorts that only start in the Fall (August). There is limited capacity and students in these programs are required to take all of the courses in series (Fall through Summer) in order to complete their Certificate.

However, WLD 1605 - Advanced TIG Welding and WLD 1800 - Welding Foundations are the only exceptions at this time. Students can enroll in these classes during the Spring semester with instructor approval if open seats are available.


Do you offer any evening programs or courses?

No. We do not offer any programs in the evening at this time.

However, WLD 1605 - Advanced TIG Welding was offered in the evening for the first time in Spring 2026.

FOT 1000 - Fiber Optic Fundamentals was also offered in the evening in Fall 2025.

The Office of Workforce Development is also a great resources for setting up customized training.


Can I schedule a tour of the facility?

Yes. Campus Tours will integrate an ITC tour into your full campus tour by request.
You can also contact the CTE Navigator for a tour of just the ITC.


Can I use the facility for a professional/private event?

Yes. Several spaces are available for rent. Additional information is located here: https://mineralarea.edu/facilities-reservations/


Will the Auto Tech shop work on my personal vehicle?

No. Due to liability concerns and limited resources, the Auto Tech shop is not equipped to service or repair vehicles for the general public.

However, some exceptions have been made for students and faculty throughout the year. Please contact the instructor if you have any questions.
