Fiber Optic Fundamentals

Skilled fiber optic technicians are in demand as the broadband industry expands throughout the region. Position yourself for a career in this growing field by completing our one-semester Fiber Optic Fundamentals Certificate.

  • Learn fiber optic basics, OSHA 10 training, fiber optic networks and components, installation and testing, fiber cable types, and what structured cabling is and how it is used.

  • Students will be able to take the CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) test to become FOA-certified fiber optic technicians.

  • Gain hands-on experience in the lab including cable prep, cleaning, termination, splicing, testing, and safety.
