Jennifer Sikes Awarded $500 Grant

Jennifer Sikes Awarded Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation Classroom Grant

Congratulations to Early Learning Academy Director Jennifer Sikes, who was awarded a $500 Classroom Grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation! Local Missouri Retired Teachers Association (MRTA) members Denise Wright, Pam Kauflin, and Jack Poston presented the award to Jennifer and congratulated her for being the first Mineral Area College instructor to receive a grant. Poston also noted that this year's competition was particularly tough, with approximately 50 applications in the region. Jennifer plans to invest the funds in a color printer for the production of curriculum materials at the Early Learning Academy.

This year, the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation is supporting teachers and support personnel by awarding a minimum of 126 $500 classroom grants (nine per MRTA region) and 20 $500 support staff grants statewide. MAC is located in Region 11, which includes St. Francois, Washington, Ste. Genevieve, Perry, Iron, Madison, Bollinger, Wayne, Reynolds, and Shannon counties.
